a journal of arts and esoterica

Friends, Patrons, Collaborators!
I’m truly ecstatic to finally share with you my newest project, BARBAROUS TONGUES: A Journal of Arts and Esoterica!
This publication has taken a large portion of my brain space and energy for the past year and then some. It is the primary reason my blog has gone a bit fallow in that time, and I’m amazed and quite proud that the fruit of that labor is finally seeing the light of day.
The journal features a sprawling, in-depth interview I conducted with artist, occulturist, and lecturer Tom Banger (longtime friend and confidante of industrial music pioneer Genesis Breyer P-Orridge), as well as shorter yet equally intense and engaging interviews with historian and folk magician Dr. Alexander Cummins, ceremonial magician BJ Swain, and indigenous filmmaker Adrianna Jasso.

Additionally, intuitive esotericist Alexandra Cason offers several elegant and visceral poems, and astrologer and medium Mandy Wilde writes about her relationship with the triple goddess Hekate. A visual portfolio by Portland based collage artist Francis Dot graces the work, and jack-of-all-arts Chris King is represented herein with his prose work relating Art Garfunkle’s cross-country walks, which Garfunkle undertook as a way to process his grief over his wife’s passing. Finally, my own paper, On Solar Gods and Inner Light, combines academic research and personal praxis to delineate my ongoing exploration of devotional sorcery dedicated to the solar titan Helios.

After 34 years of fold-and-staple zine making, Barbarous Tongues represents my first foray into professionally bound desktop publishing. I hope you will join me in celebrating the achievement of this lifelong goal by picking up a copy for yourself! In addition to the 80pp perfectbound paperback edition available HERE, I have also listed a pdf version for those living outside the US who would like to avoid our astronomical international shipping rates. That can be had HERE.
I’m organizing some live events in the coming months, beginning with an appearance on Thursday Sept 4th in St. Louis MO for which I am grateful to contributor Chris King for organizing. West Coast events will hopefully follow in the Fall and Winter.

Hail to you, my longtime readers. I hope you’ll join me on this newest adventure. And – please don’t hesitate to reach out privately with questions or comments.
Very Best ,
